Feliz Cumple! estoy en chile? jaja

well, i had my birthday just a few short days ago... i still cant believe i am 20 years old right now, its all a bit unreal.  I am 20 and in Chile. HA! the whole weekend leading up to my monday birthday was amazing.
It coincided with one of the guys in my pension moving out, so the students had despedidas all weekend.  We all went out as a group on friday night which was alot of fun.  Since theyre all Chilean they knew the sweet spots to hit up in Valpo at night. The first bar we went to was really funny, the first 10-20 minutes we were there they had grease songs on shuffle... i was getting worried there was a theme to the bar until they moved on to some 90s pop boy bands and i knew it was going to be a good night. :) one thing that baffled me was two of the girls ordered drinks called mayan sacrifice or something along those lines....its some form of not yummy alcohol in a shot glass lit on fire... so the not yummy alc becomes hot not yummy alc. enough said. also, u drink it with a straw, and i couldnt understand how the straw was not melting when the girls were drinking through the fire?! we stayed at the bar until it was a sufficiently late enough time to go to the club (after 1 or 2am here), we ended up at a really fun club that played a good mix. the students i was with were teaching me all the chilean type club dances and activities. it was the most fun. Many twirls and shimmys later we were all tired and ready for bed, when we left the club was still poppin though.  I dont know how long they kept going but we didnt leave till around 4 or 4:30. I dont know how they do it here, by the time i got home all i wanted was sleep, i was not meant to stay up that late :/
well i took the next day to sleep and relax before my birthday :) although i did make a trip a few blocks up from my house to visit a friend a bake cookies and brownies with her. I am pretty sure i ate more batter and dough than cookies and brownies made.. whoops. her and I have had alot of fun together here, she is my yoda of how to live in chile as she is the one who has already lived here for a semester.

after that i pretty much did nothing on saturday, worked a bit on a paper due the next week but hey its my birthday weekend, i didnt have to do anything. :P The real fun happend on sunday, i met a girl here from canada who i share a birthday with (i dont remember if ive already wrote about this) and we had an asado (bbq) on her apartment buildings roof. she lives on the same cerro as me so i could walk there, i made cookies for it (from a bag since they dont have brown sugar here) but everyone loved them all the same? Most of the people were friends from the school she teaches art at, although i had met a few of them when i had gone out one night with her, and then i brough two of my girlfriends from the program.  all in all it was a great group of people and a fun substitute for being away from friends and family and home for my day.
april, allison and i infront of cerro placeres (pleasure hill lol) that orange apt thing to the left is my house!

and then of course, i had to do a couple yoga poses, just to keep limber :) and of course it had to be on a (i dont know if im using this word correctly) precipice.... in new tight chilean jeans so standing bow pulling pose didnt work out so well.. almost fell into the yucky sludge stuff in the pool.
so i decided itd be "safer" to do half moon backbend of the edge... epicly awesome or just kind of a dumb idea? i say awesome because it got me this awesome shot

oh and i must show you the delicious zucchini chocolate cupcakes rachael (the host) made! with feliz cumple candles

and that my dear friends and family is what i ate, yes you can believe it, i ate that little weiner type thing, although i was assured it wasnt pig, im not sure i believe it. but don't start getting any ideas, im not about to become a full carnivore anytime soon, meat only when necessary is still my motto, it just happens that necessary is alot here... :/

so after the asado, and beautiful sunset, i walked home (oh i forgot to mention and i bet it could go somewhere else and fit better but i want to talk about it now, why else were parenthesis invented? so apparently i talk about how much i love bueno bars alot...

because for my birthday 2 of my friends got me a box of them and another got me different chocolate but still super rico (delicious rich yummy) wow parenthesis within parenthesis.. moving on) i walked home, then the next morning, i got leftover cake for breakfast, had class saw everyone yay! then came back and they had a birthday cake waiting for me, complete with a giant candle (the didnt have bday candles)
feliz cumpleano casey <3
and of course they got me in the most ridiculous face of blowing out my candle :D
from left to right, ignacia, (the granddaughter), Rita (the house keeper and probs my fave and closest chilean), me, and Irene,(my mama chilena)
I only tower over them alittle bit right? haha yeah. so that is my birthday tale, nothing much of interest has happened since then as we all know that it IS the most important day of the year. ahem. I did get sick which makes me sad, but i couldnt go out this weekend anyway because i have two tests next week which I should probably be studying for right now, maybe i will get back on that right now.

unless something ridiculous happens I will probably not be writing until after the 18 (sept 18 is their jul 4 and they go ridonkulous apparently so I doubt I will have time) and I am leaving for Argentina on the 10th until the 16th.

but seriously i should study, chaoooo
